Summary

Intervention Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN Support
Location: Derby, DE22
Daily Rate: £105 - £115 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) | 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Long-term to permanent

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to deliver targeted support to pupils who need it most? Do you have a passion for making a difference through small group and one-to-one interventions?

About the Role

Long Term Futures are working with a friendly, inclusive primary school in Derby (DE22) to recruit a confident and proactive Intervention Teaching Assistant.

This full-time role involves delivering interventions to pupils with special educational needs, including those with EHCPs, as well as children working below age-related expectations. You'll work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to plan and deliver structured, tailored support across core subjects, emotional regulation, and communication.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, both academic and social/emotional
- Adapt resources and teaching styles to meet individual learning needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor progress
- Use visuals, routines, and behaviour strategies to create a positive environment
- Provide consistent, nurturing support that helps build pupil confidence and independence

What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 1 year's experience in a primary school (essential)
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech & language needs
- Confident in delivering interventions and adapting materials
- Qualified to Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, HLTA, or relevant degree
- Strong communication skills and a patient, supportive approach
- Familiarity with key strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, or social stories (desirable)
