Job Opportunity: South Indian Vegetarian Tandoori Chef – Indian Aroma (Authentic Indian Restaurant)
Location: Gantshill, Ilford
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: £38,700.00 or more.
As a Tandoori Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting a variety of tandoor-based vegetarian dishes, while ensuring top quality in taste, texture, and presentation. You will maintain kitchen standards, support menu development, and collaborate closely with the broader kitchen team to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare a variety of vegetarian tandoor dishes, including:
* Tandoori Paneer Tikka, Achari Paneer Tikka, Malai Paneer Tikka
* Tandoori Aloo, Bharwan Mushroom, Tandoori Broccoli
* Veg Seekh Kebabs, Stuffed Capsicum, Tandoori Pineapple
* Tandoor-cooked Indian breads: Tandoori Roti, Naan (Butter/Garlic/Stuffed), Kulcha, Missi Roti
* Operate and maintain traditional clay tandoor ovens safely and efficiently
* Marinate ingredients using authentic spice blends and yoghurts/pastes as per standardized recipes
* Ensure dishes are cooked to order, hot, and consistent in quality
* Maintain high levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
* Manage prep work, stock rotation, and portion control in your section
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and coordinated food service
* Maintain records of food wastage, quality checks, and inventory for tandoor ingredients
* Assist in menu innovation for tandoor-based seasonal and promotional items
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, specializing in tandoori vegetarian cuisine
Proficiency in operating and managing tandoor ovens
Solid understanding of Indian spices, marination techniques, and cooking times
Experience in a vegetarian or sattvic kitchen preferred
Must uphold strict vegetarian standards with no cross-contamination
Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Food Safety & Hygiene Certification (or willingness to obtain)
