Job Opportunity: South Indian Vegetarian Dosa Chef – Indian Aroma (Authentic Indian Restaurant)
Location: Gantshill, Ilford
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: £38,700.00 or more.
As a Dosa Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of traditional and innovative South Indian dosas and tiffin items that reflect Indian Aroma Restaurant’s commitment to purity, consistency, and taste. You must ensure precise texture, taste, and crispness, while operating in a high-volume kitchen environment.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
* Prepare and expertly cook a variety of dosas and related tiffin dishes, including:
* Plain Dosa, Masala Dosa, Rava Dosa, Onion Dosa, Ghee Roast, Paper Dosa
* Specialties: Mysore Masala Dosa, Set Dosa, Kal Dosa, Paneer Dosa, Podi Dosa
* Tiffin items such as Idli, Vada, Pongal, Uttapam, Rava Kichadi, and Mini Tiffin combinations
* Ensure dosa batter is fermented, stored, and handled correctly
* Maintain the correct temperature and cleanliness of the dosa tawa (griddle) at all times
* Follow Indian Aroma’s standard recipes and presentation guidelines with precision
* Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment
* Ensure dishes are served hot, crisp, and consistently well-presented
* Monitor ingredient freshness, stock levels, and assist in inventory control
* Maintain hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with brand and food safety regulations
* Coordinate with other kitchen staff for smooth operation during breakfast, lunch, and dinner rushes
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum 1–3 years of experience making South Indian dosas in a professional kitchen
Expertise in dosa tawa handling, batter fermentation, and preparation of accompaniments (sambar, chutneys, podi)
Deep understanding of pure vegetarian food preparation with no cross-contamination
Ability to produce consistent quality under high pressure
Strong attention to timing, portion control, and plate presentation
Team player with good communication and multitasking skills
Food safety/hygiene certification preferred.
