Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Preston, UK
Type: Full time permanent
Shift: Rotating shifts 5:45 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 10:10 pm, Mon- Fri.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your role will be vital in minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and reactive electrical maintenance on machinery, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules to ensure equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults promptly to minimize production disruptions.
- Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and machinery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update SOPs as needed.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to manage spare parts inventory, balancing cost and availability.
- Support continuous improvement projects and contribute ideas for process enhancement.
- Ensure a clean, safe working environment, adhering to health and safety policies and GMP standards.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members as required.
Requirements:
- Recognized electrical engineering trade apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years' electrical maintenance experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, PLC systems, fault-finding, drives, sensors, and control components.
- Experience working with manufacturing and packaging machinery.
- Good understanding of health and safety standards, GMP, and SOP compliance.
- Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive approach, and team-oriented attitude.
Desirable:
- Experience in the food or pharmaceutical industries and working in a clean manufacturing environment.
