Job Title: Lecturer - Games Design
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £27,665 - £40,644 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)
Hours: 37 hours per week, term-time
Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced and creative Games Design Lecturer to join our Creative Industries team. You'll deliver engaging and effective teaching across Levels 2 and 3, helping students explore theory and develop practical skills in game art, design, and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and deliver high-quality lessons in games design and development.
- Support and inspire students through practical workshops, project-based learning, and portfolio development.
- Guide students in software use (e.g., Unity, Unreal, Maya, 3ds Max), 2D/3D asset creation, narrative design, mechanics, and user experience.
- Continuously design and assess student work, providing timely feedback.
- Collaborate with industry professionals and coordinate project showcases or industry-linked brief days.
- Participate in curriculum development and mapping to BTEC/VRQ frameworks.
- Promote safeguarding and equality, ensuring supportive learning environments.
- Engage in college initiatives, outreach, enrichment, and student progression planning.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Relevant degree or vocational qualification in Games Design, Game Art, Multimedia, Computer Science with Game modules, or related fields.
- Industry experience in games design, asset creation, or interactive media.
- Familiarity with relevant software (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, graphic and modeling tools).
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- Valid enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching in FE/higher education or mentoring aspiring game developers.
- Knowledge of student assessment and feedback processes.
- A portfolio of published or student-based game projects and an understanding of current industry trends.
