Title: Peer Researcher

Shelter Cymru believes that people with lived experience of homelessness or housing insecurity should play a fundamental role in our research, and ultimately, in influencing Welsh housing and homelessness services, policy and legislation. In order to ensure we can deliver on this belief, Shelter Cymru employ Peer Researchers to be involved in all stages of our research and policy work. Peer Researchers have lived experience of housing insecurity and/or homelessness and bring this understanding to their research work.
We are now looking to expand the Peer Research team and have an exciting opportunity for two new Peer Researchers to join the team on a casual basis. Whilst lived experience of housing insecurity or homelessness are essential for this role, previous research experience is not required as you will be provided with training, mentoring and support.
As a Peer Researcher, you will assist the policy and campaigns team with various aspects of research and evaluation, including research design, data collection and analysis, and writing up and disseminating findings. Peer research will enable you to carry out research with people who share similar experiences to yourself and helps to make the research process empathetic and relatable for participants.
If you would like any further information on the role of Peer Researcher, please contact our Peer Research Co-ordinator Sara O’Shea, either by email SaraO@sheltercymru.org.uk or telephone 07884261702.
