The Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of geographically dispersed Operations Officers to support the operational delivery and strategic development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) across Wales.
The Operations Manager role involves managing, coaching, and supporting Operations Officers to undertake their role and building strong partnerships to increase DofE’s engagement across communities in Wales. Ensuring individual KPIs are achieved and taking specific responsibility for driving forward key projects.
Wales has 3 key strategic projects in its plan for the next 3 years:
· Growth in post 16 education.
· Growth in the voluntary, community and statutory youth sector.
· Growth in schools.
The Operations Manager will lead their team to drive these projects forward as well as providing support for the achievement of objectives related to our core activity. Using the charity’s project management processes to manage progress and ensuring effective use of available funding.
They will be an active and engaged member of the Wales Leadership team, developing, and delivering ways to meet Wales and UK wide objectives and specific key performance indicators (KPIs).
The role will be field based, working from home, with regular Wales wide travel to establish and develop sound working relationships with the team, other colleagues and partners. Meetings will be a combination of online and face to face, as appropriate.
We have supportive online solutions to enable home working to be effective, but the appointed person must have an appropriate home working environment. Applicants should live within Wales or geographically based sufficiently close to ensure efficient travel across the country.
The DofE has been recognised by the Welsh Language Commissioner for our Welsh Language offer and applications from Welsh speaking candidates are actively encouraged. Non-Welsh speaking candidates will be expected to demonstrate their commitment to developing their Welsh language competence.
What we are looking for:
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, proactive, and effective team player with people and project management experience to join the Wales team. You will report to the Wales Director and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your Operations team and delivery of key strategic objectives. The role will also involve contributing to national working groups to support our charity wide strategic goals.
You will be a passionate advocate for the work of the DofE and be driven to realise the charity’s strategic ambitions.
