The role:
We are seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join a busy legal team within a local authority based in Ashton-under-Lyne. This is a crucial role requiring a qualified solicitor with a strong background in children’s social care law, particularly around child protection litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a wide range of legal advice and assistance relating to children’s social care.
Manage a caseload involving care proceedings and other public law children matters.
Undertake advocacy in court as required.
Work closely with social care teams, external partners, and counsel to support the protection of vulnerable children.
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor (or Barrister/Legal Executive with relevant experience).
Advocacy experience is essential, particularly within the Family Court.
Proven experience handling child care legal work within a local authority or similar environment.
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989.
