Hourly Rate: Up to £42 per hour
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Built Environment Lecturer to join our teaching team on a temporary contract, with both part-time and full-time roles available. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across a range of built environment subjects, supporting learners in developing the technical and professional skills needed for careers in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, and related fields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and relevant lessons in built environment subjects (e.g., construction technology, design, surveying, sustainability)
- Develop teaching materials and assessments in line with curriculum and industry standards
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and academic support
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment
- Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and course improvement initiatives
- Support learners with progression to higher education or employment pathways
Requirements:
- A degree or relevant qualification in a Built Environment discipline (e.g., Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering)
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or willingness to work towards one
- Industry experience in the built environment or construction sector
- Strong communication, planning, and classroom management skills
- Ability to engage and support a diverse range of learners
Desirable:
- Experience teaching in a further or higher education setting
- Assessor and/or Internal Verifier qualifications (e.g., TAQA, A1, V1)
- Familiarity with current industry tools such as CAD, BIM, and surveying technology
- Understanding of sustainability, building regulations, and health & safety standards
