Salary: £40,000 - 42,000 approx (depending on experience/qualifications)

Details:
Our client is looking to appoint an Accountant to join their team based in Inverness. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of Management Accounting services, ensuring that all tasks are completed in line with agreed procedures, quality and deadlines. This role involves supporting the development of a team of trainees and bookkeeping staff ensuring work is delegated effectively and completed in line with deadlines. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills and be an effective and persuasive communicator and use their training and professional experience to develop and enhance the existing standards and procedures. Working hours can be flexible with full or part time considered. This is initially a temporary role which may lead to longer term/permanent employment.

Duties include:
Ensure timely preparation of all accounts and other Management Accounting reports within agreed deadlines.
Ensure balance sheet substantiation and reconciliation for all clients and troubleshoot areas of concern, managing expectations and identifying and implementing corrective actions.
Support training staff ensuring that the Department’s objectives are achieved.
Develop and maintain good working relationships.
Give any necessary advice on Management Accounting issues.
Ensure detailed process and procedure manuals are in place and regularly updated and monitor trainees adherence to these.
Maintain an awareness of developments in the field of Management Accounting to ensure the continued provision of a high quality professional service.
Work closely with the Financial Controller and senior accounting staff.
Challenge current ways of working, driving change & efficiencies wherever possible.
Ensure the highest standards of work are maintained.
Assist in other technical and administrative areas within the Company.
Ad hoc duties as required from time to time by the Financial Controller.

Person Specification:
Qualified or working towards a relevant professional accounting qualification with experience in a similar fast paced accounting environment.
Ability to question the transactions accounting rules that lie behind the numbers.
Ability to take ownership of workload management.
Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy.
Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with staff and clients at all levels.
Ability to confidently deal with colleagues and develop strong client relationships.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
