Trainee Field Service / Calibration Engineer (150jc) – Egham, Surrey - £30,000–£35,000 + Full Training + Overtime + Benefits
Are you a hands-on problem solver with a background in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems?
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
Would you thrive in a structured, team-driven environment where precision, safety, and mission delivery are key?
This could be your ideal next step.
The Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in hydraulic testing and motion simulation systems, is growing. Established in the 1950s, they have built a reputation for engineering excellence and now seeking a Trainee Field Service Engineer to join their technical team.
They’re looking for individuals with a military engineering background - especially from REME, RAF, or Royal Navy who are ready to transition into a civilian career while still operating with discipline, commitment, and a solutions-focused mindset.
What You’ll Do
After comprehensive training, you will:
• Service and calibrate hydraulic test systems on client sites across the UK, Europe, and globally
• Work hands-on with hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and control systems
• Be trained in the use of their in-house software and calibration tools
• Prepare for site visits with Risk Assessments and Method Statements
• Represent the company professionally on overseas assignments (expenses covered)
Ideal Background
You may have worked on:
• Hydraulic systems (their system work at 3000 PSI), actuators, or motion platforms
• Aircraft ground support, vehicle maintenance, weapon systems, or similar
• Control systems, transducers, or calibration tasks
• With qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 / HND / HNC in Engineering
You’ll be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and open to travel (approx. 50% annually). Some weeks may involve Monday to Friday stays away, other weeks just a few days.
Why This Is Great for Veterans**
• Structure and progression with full technical training
• Responsibility and autonomy in a team-focused setting
• Exposure to UK, European, and global work—mirroring the mobility of service life
• Long-term career prospects with excellent pay, overtime, and benefits
What’s On Offer
• £30,000–£35,000 starting salary (based on experience)
• Overtime and travel allowances - earn over £45,000 once trained
• Company vehicle, 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
• Company pension, death-in-service insurance (4x salary)
• Travel, hotels, and meals fully covered for overseas assignments
• Join a team where your background is respected and your skills are valued
