Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and passionate English Tutors to join our educational team at our London tuition centres. The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals through personalised, in-person instruction. You will work with children across KS3 to A-Level, including those with special educational needs, delivering tailored lessons that foster both academic progress and confidence.
Each tutor will be assigned a main centre (Mile End or Ilford) but must be flexible to work in both as required.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, tailored English lessons suited to individual student needs
Teach students from KS3 through A-Level, aligning with the national curriculum
Conduct Assessment Week every 4th week to evaluate and track student progress
Create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Provide clear explanations, encourage student participation, and answer questions effectively
Collaborate with parents and staff to support student development
Provide cover work if absent and ensure lesson continuity
Stay informed on best practices and techniques in education and tutoring
Requirements
Must be currently studying for or have completed a Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field
Previous tutoring or teaching experience essential (1 year minimum)
A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) is desirable but not required
Minimum GCSE English Language and Maths Grade C / 5
Valid DBS certificate required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with children or young people; SEN experience is an advantage
Must be available to work any day from Monday to Sunday based on scheduling
Flexibility to work at both centres (E3 4TU and E7 9HH) as needed
