Salary: Scale 5 point 12-17 £21,780.52-£23,626.81 (Pro rata actual salary)
Hours: From 34 hours per week
Working Pattern: term time only-Mon 8.15am - 3.30pm Tues 8.15am - 3.30pm Weds 8.15am - 4pm Thurs 8.15am - 4pm Fri 8.15am - 3pm
Contract type: Permanent

Castle Hill High School is a special school for students, aged 11 18, with significant and complex needs. We currently have 340 students on roll. Our most recent Ofsted inspection, in July 2023, judged the school to be Outstanding. All students enjoy equality of opportunity, regardless of gender, race, ability, social background etc. Our aim is to provide an education which is relevant and worthwhile, preparing our students for the world of work and ensuring that they leave us as caring young adults who have developed positive attitudes and values and are respectful of others.
We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within our pupil support team. If you are dedicated to supporting young people with SEND overcome barriers to learning and promote their self-regulation and resilience then we would like to hear from you.

Specific Duties

Work collaboratively with the Pupil Support team to address the needs of pupils who require support with overcoming barriers to learning
Build positive relationships with pupils and establish a safe and supportive environment
Assisting pupils in developing social and emotional skills, promoting self-regulation and resilience
Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour and the consequences for their actions/decisions
Support pupils’ access to learning, using appropriate strategies, resources etc.
Good literacy and ICT skills


You will need
Previous experience of working with young people with SEND
Previous experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour
Understanding of behaviour regulation strategies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils, parents and staff
Empathy, patience and resilience to work effectively with pupils facing social, emotional and mental health challenges
A commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity and equality in education
To demonstrate confidence and adaptability
