KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING
Advanced understanding of national curriculum and other learningprogrammes and their application to pupils with ASD.
Understanding of principles of child development, learning styles andindependent learning with particular reference to ASD.
Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation
Understanding of inclusion, especially within a school setting
Experience of resources preparation to support learning programmes
Effective use of ICT to support learning including use of interactiveSmartboard technologies
QUALIFICATIONS
NVQ III or equivalent in teaching assistance or willingness to completequalification when in post.
Minimum 2 year experience of working with children in an educational setting (within specified age range/ subject area)
Willingness to participate in relevant training and development opportunities.
Training in the literacy/numeracy strategy
Training in special educational needs and ASD strategies
Specialist knowledge of the requirements of pupils with ASD
