Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health Officer specializing in food and health safety to join our team in the WCR 3 region. This role is crucial in ensuring that community health standards are met and maintained through rigorous inspections, assessments, and policies related to food safety regulations and public health. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be tasked with monitoring food establishments, conducting health and safety inspections, and implementing health education programs. Collaborating with local stakeholders such as restaurant owners, public health officials, and community groups will be essential to promote best practices in public health safety. You will lead initiatives to address environmental hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards by performing thorough investigations. Your expertise will help in identifying potential risks in various food handling and processing operations while providing actionable recommendations for compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a passion for community health improvement, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of food establishments to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Investigate complaints and outbreaks related to foodborne illnesses or health hazards.
Provide education and training to food service personnel regarding safe food handling practices.
Develop and implement health and safety guidelines and educational materials.
Collaborate with local agencies to promote public health initiatives and enhance community awareness.
Analyze inspection data and prepare reports on compliance trends and areas for improvement.
Participate in emergency response activities related to food safety and public health threats.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public health, food safety, or a related field.
Proven experience in environmental health or food safety inspection.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and public health.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Certification as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or equivalent is preferred.

Pay Per Hour: £31.00
Location: Westminster, South West London
