Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and skilled Junior CAD Technician to join us on a freelance basis. You will work closely with our survey and design team to produce high-quality 2D floor plans and assist with updates to the Revit model. The role will be based at our Watford office, with flexible working options available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Create accurate 2D floor plans from point cloud data and hand-drawn sketches.
Assist in developing and updating Revit models for building layouts and fire safety compliance.
Interpret and process data from laser scanners (e.g., Leica RTC360 or similar).
Collaborate with surveyors and project managers to ensure plans meet client specifications.
Support the digital team with file management, naming conventions, and quality assurance.
Maintain drawing documentation in line with BIM and company standards.
Requirements
Proven experience producing 2D CAD floor plans (AutoCAD or similar).
Working knowledge of Revit (basic to intermediate level).
Ability to work with or learn to use data from laser scanning systems (e.g., RTC360).
Good understanding of architectural layouts and construction terminology.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Must be reliable, deadline-driven, and open to feedback.
Must be able to work on-site at our Watford office at least part-time.
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience working with fire door layouts or fire strategy plans.
Familiarity with point cloud software (e.g., Leica Cyclone, CloudCompare, or Recap).
Knowledge of BIM Level 2 standards.
