AMHP/ Senior Social Worker – Joint Homelessness Team
Location: Westminster, London
Working Pattern: office based limited WFH

About the Role

Westminster City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Joint Homelessness Team (JHT). This is a pivotal role where you will lead and support a team of social workers, ensuring high-quality service delivery to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.

You will be responsible for supervising staff, managing complex cases, and leading on key areas of social care delivery including Care Act assessments, safeguarding, and support for individuals with no recourse to public funds. You will also play a key role in promoting recovery, self-care, and integrated working across health and social care.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise social work staff and oversee their caseloads.
Lead on social care delivery including Care Act eligibility, personal budgets, and s117 aftercare.
Act as a Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) and investigate safeguarding concerns.
Promote recovery and self-care, working collaboratively with individuals, families, and carers.
Chair clinical and team meetings.
Hold a small caseload and undertake clinical social work activities.
Practise as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and participate in the central AMHP rota.
Maintain professional registration and comply with AMHP statutory regulations.
Engage in regular supervision and continuous professional development.

About You

We are looking for a confident and compassionate professional who brings:

A recognized social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
*Current or recent AMHP warranting.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Children Act.
Excellent risk assessment and management skills.
Proven ability to build effective partnerships and work collaboratively across services.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A commitment to performance improvement and achieving outcomes.
