THE ROLE
A vacancy has arisen for an Electrical Technician working within the R & D Engineering Team based at the NSG European Technical Centre, Lathom near Ormskirk, Lancashire. The role involves the practical application of engineering design for the manufacture of new R&D equipment and the support of onsite equipment including installation, assembly, repair and maintenance activities. The equipment ranges in size from small laboratory instruments through to large prototyping machines and it covers a very wide range of electrical and mechanical technologies such as conveyors, machine control panels, low voltage power system distribution, motors and heating systems. The role is varied and provides the opportunity to work on projects alongside technical support activities.
The successful applicant will work with colleagues from various functions in multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate should have a background in Electrical Engineering or related technology and be experienced in troubleshooting and problem solving. The applicant should be able to work safely with experience of equipment installation, testing and repair of electrical components. The role requires both good teamworking skills and an ability to work independently. Experience of working in an industrial or laboratory setting is desirable.

Experience working in an industrial or laboratory setting.
Good team working and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly between project and maintenance activities.
Adaptability to meet specific customer needs.
Good use of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Completed an approved electrical apprenticeship.
Ideally hold an appropriate City and Guilds electrical qualification.
