About this role

The Student Access and Enabling Service (within Student Life Services) are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, experienced, and forward-thinking Counsellor to work on a part-time basis of 22.5 hours per week on a 1-year fixed term contract. This role is central to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our diverse student population through a One at a Time counselling model — a single-session, student-centred approach that empowers individuals to make meaningful progress in each session.

As a multidisciplinary team we provide Counselling and Mental Health Support to students and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide effective and timely psychological support to empower our students to become ready and able graduates. We are committed to working creatively to support our students and offer a mixture of face-to-face, online and telephone options.

About you

We are looking for a dedicated professional who is:

Fully qualified and registered with a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC).
Have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience in delivering counselling.
Comfortable working within a single-session framework and adapting flexibly to student needs.
Knowledgeable about the challenges faced by university students and the importance of early intervention.
Understanding of risk assessments and appropriate steps needed to mitigate risk and promote safety.
Committed to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.
