Your New Job
Hays Education is working on behalf of a specialist secondary school in Manchester to recruit a Part-Time Maths & English Teacher to start in September 2025. This is a temporary role initially, with the potential to become permanent depending on how well the appointed candidate settles into the role. You will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons in Maths and English to students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role involves working with small groups, adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning needs, and supporting students in achieving qualifications such as GCSEs, BTECs, and vocational awards.

This is a specialist SEMH secondary school located in Hulme, Central Manchester, serving pupils aged 11-16 from across the city. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, attachment difficulties, early trauma, and emotional-based school avoidance. What You'll Need to Succeed
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Maths and English at KS3 and KS4
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs and inclusive teaching strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Resilience, adaptability, and a trauma-informed approach
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
