Job Title: Personal Assistant / Support Worker
Hours: 20 hours per week, to be worked flexibly across weekdays and weekends.
Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour (flat rate). Reasonable expenses incurred during the course of work will be reimbursed by the employer.
Location: Sutton Coldfield (B75) and surrounding areas.
Responsible to: The Employer (Direct Payment Holder)

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Personal Assistant / Support Worker to support a 30-year-old male living in Sutton Coldfield. He is passionate about music, cars, and all things retro and vintage. He occasionally uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with certain day-to-day tasks, particularly those that require two hands.
The individual has experienced periods of severe anxiety and depression, so we are looking for someone with a supportive nature and a good understanding of mental health needs.
The primary aim of the role is to promote independence, provide companionship, and support the individual in leading a fulfilling life both at home and in the community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide encouragement and practical support to access the community and engage in social activities.
• Support the development of independence, assertiveness, and self-confidence.
• Accompany the individual to events and activities of interest.
• Motivate and assist with planning and attending activities.
• Help with weekly scheduling, appointments, and organisation.
• Assist with basic financial management and informed decision-making.
• Support with everyday living tasks to promote autonomy.
• Offer reassurance and emotional support when needed.
• Prompt and encourage healthy food choices.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
• Be punctual, reliable, and flexible.
• Be a non-smoker (preferred).
• Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
• Maintain a high standard of care and conduct at all times.
• Be willing to undertake training relevant to the role.
• Prioritise health and safety in all aspects of work.
• Respect the individual’s property, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (business insurance required if using own vehicle).
• Ideally have experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions and/or physical disabilities.
