Summary

Game Design Tutor

Location: Walthamstow

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent

About the Role:

Are you passionate about game design and keen to inspire the next generation of creative talent? We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Game Design Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching and training to learners who are preparing for careers in the games industry.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, industry-relevant lessons that blend technical skills, creativity, and theory. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in game development, interactive media, or digital design, who thrives in a collaborative and forward-thinking educational environment.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and assess on a range of game design qualifications (e.g. BTEC, UAL, or equivalent)
  • Teach key areas such as game development, 2D/3D asset creation, game engines (Unity, Unreal), narrative design, and industry workflows
  • Plan and deliver lessons that combine theory, practice, and creativity to meet a variety of learner needs
  • Provide individualised support and feedback to help students progress and succeed
  • Contribute to curriculum development and keep course content aligned with industry standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support events such as open days, showcases, and exhibitions
Essential Requirements:
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Game Design, Game Development, Interactive Media, or a related field
  • Experience in using industry-standard tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya, Blender, or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Teaching or training experience in a post-16 or further education environment (or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification)
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • A commitment to inclusive, learner-centred teaching and safeguarding practices
Desirable:
  • Experience teaching BTEC, UAL, or similar creative qualifications
  • Industry experience in game development or a related digital field
  • Understanding of current trends in gaming, eSports, and interactive media
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning, assessment frameworks, and educational technology
