The Employability School at South Thames College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Lecturer to teach and prepare adult learners for the Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Employment in the Construction Industries (Ascentis) to ensure that they are able to achieve success. Several courses are planned throughout the academic year.
Developing course objectives using effective course and lesson plans designed to monitor learners’ progress, you’ll prepare course plans in accordance with any external or College set syllabuses and deliver the agreed learning outcomes by the end of the course.
With experience working in Construction (in more than one trade), we’d like our lecturer to hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards), have a successful record of tutoring and supporting learners and have recent teaching experience in Construction in an FE College.
You’ll have strong evidence of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment and of setting and implementing target setting, monitoring and reviewing progress. With strong evidence of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, you’ll have interdisciplinary skills and working experience. With an advanced level of computer literacy and general office software management skills, you’ll be able to work under pressure and to strict validating body deadlines
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
Closing date for the return of completed applications is 9th July
There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.
As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
