Description
The role of Child Protection Chair and LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) is a critical position aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of children within our community. As a Child Protection Chair and LADO, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating child protection cases, working closely with various agencies to safeguard vulnerable children and young people. This position requires a passionate professional with a deep understanding of child protection legislation and best practices. You will lead multi-agency meetings, facilitating discussions that bring together diverse stakeholders to formulate plans that prioritize the best interests of children. Collaboration is key, as you will engage with social services, schools, health care providers, and law enforcement agencies to create a cohesive support network. In this leadership capacity, your analytical skills will be paramount in assessing risks and evaluating the effectiveness of protection plans. You will also provide expert guidance and advice on safeguarding issues to various external stakeholders and ensure that all practices align with current legislation. Responsibilities
Oversee and chair multi-agency child protection conferences and meetings.
Ensure compliance with local and national child protection procedures and legislation.
Coordinate and review child protection plans in collaboration with involved agencies.
Provide expert advice and guidance on safeguarding matters to professionals and organizations.
Conduct investigations into allegations or concerns about individuals working with children.
Monitor the effectiveness of child protection services and interventions.
Maintain accurate and confidential records related to child protection cases.
Requirements
A degree in social work, children's services, or a related field.
Significant experience in child protection or safeguarding roles.
Comprehensive knowledge of child protection legislation and best practices.
Strong leadership and facilitation skills for multi-agency collaborations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills to assess risks and develop effective strategies.
