We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Merthyr to assist with the appointment of a Care Worker, on a 2-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £16.84 per hour

Summary:
To assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals within a Registered Care Home setting, supporting residents including older people, people with dementia, and individuals with physical or learning disabilities. The Kitchen Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety, and contributes to creating a homely, supportive environment that respects the dignity, independence, and wellbeing of all residents.
Responsibilities:
Support the Cook/Catering Supervisor with preparing and serving meals that meet dietary requirements and individual care plans.
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen, dining, and food storage area, in line with food safety standards and inspection requirements.
Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment using appropriate methods and ensure their proper storage.
Monitor and report food supplies, expiry dates, and stock levels to ensure timely ordering and minimal waste.
Dispose of waste safely and hygienically in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Requirements:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake upon appointment is desirable.
Manual handling and Health & Safety training (provided if not already held).
Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable.
Previous work in a care setting is advantageous but not essential.
Understanding of dietary needs, including texture-modified diets and allergy awareness, is beneficial.
