To operate in a professional manner in compliance with the professional codes of conduct (IBMS). To organise daily duties in the provision of a quality service. To prioritise the individuals specialist workload. To useexperience, knowledge and judgement to make decisions on laboratory results. To interpret complex multifactorial results and take appropriate actions in line with laboratory and National policies and procedures. E.g. Authorisation of results, ordering relevant follow up procedures, adding technical and approved clinically relevant comments, referring results for clinical interpretation or opinion, proactively informing a clinician of clinically significant results. To perform advanced maintenance and troubleshooting of all instruments within the department, utilising experience and judgement to effect repairs thus maintaining the operational effectiveness of the department.
