Crynodeb
The urogynaecology research fellow will join a team of urogynaecology surgeons, specialist nurses and our urogynaecology link midwife. The department has a long history in urogynaecology research, particularly focused on obstetric anal sphincter injury. We run a weekly perineal clinic for the follow up of all women sustaining obstetric anal sphincter injury which includes performing anorectal testing, both endoanal ultrasound and anorectal manometry. There will be opportunities for the post holder to obtain skills in performing and interpreting these tests. The candidate would be provided with a template timetable. This will predominantly be in research but will include the MDT, Perineal Clinic and a labour ward session as per regional guidance for out of programme training. The department runs on obstetric anal sphincter injury repair. The post holder will be expected to help in the organisation and delivery of these training days which occur twice per year. The successful candidate will also work with the SPR (middle grade) on call rota in both obstetrics and gynaecology, currently working a full shift rota of up to 48 hours per week on average. This includes prospective cover for the annual/study leave of colleagues.
