Hays is partnering with a well-established and respected manufacturing specialist based in Blackburn. Known for their innovation and excellence within the industry, this company is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to support their finance team. This is a permanent opportunity, ideal for someone looking to make an immediate impact and grow within a dynamic business.
Your new role
- As a Credit Controller, you will play a vital role in managing the company's receivables and ensuring the prompt collection of outstanding payments.
- You will be responsible for raising and issuing customer invoices in a timely manner, monitoring customer accounts to identify overdue balances, and reconciling incoming payments with corresponding invoices.
- You'll maintain and update the accounts receivable ledger, handle customer queries, and resolve any payment discrepancies.
- Additionally, you will prepare monthly debtor reports and account statements, support credit control procedures such as issuing reminders and final notices, and assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Ensuring adherence to internal controls and financial compliance policies will also be a key part of your role.
What you'll need to succeed To thrive in this role, you'll need the following qualities:
- Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable
- Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of UK VAT rules and general accounting principles
