Key Responsibilities

The Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the security, cleanliness, and functionality of the premises. This includes opening and locking the site, operating heating and lighting systems, performing minor repairs and cleaning tasks, managing deliveries and stock, liaising with contractors, and supporting school lettings and events. The role also involves record-keeping, health and safety compliance, and attending relevant training to ensure safe and efficient site operations.

Essential Skills and Behaviours

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Practical skills in maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Commitment to professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in caretaking, premises management, or building maintenance.
• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and online systems.
• Commitment to equality, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

Main Purpose of the Role

To provide efficient and effective caretaking support, ensuring the security, cleanliness, and general maintenance of buildings and surrounding areas. The caretaker ensures heating systems are operational and adheres to safe working practices and technical instructions.
