Crynodeb
Perform venepuncture on patients as requested and in accordance with the policies of Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Pathology Support Unit. To visit designated areas of the hospital to collect blood samples as set out by the team leader and according to the needs of the Trust. To ensure samples are taken in accordance with departmental SOPs (standard operating procedures) and to mix and label specimens with due care and attention. To be polite and considerate to patients, engaging with them and explaining clearly the process to ensure consent is gained before proceeding with venepuncture. To ensure samples reach the laboratory within the required time for those samples with special conditions and at regular intervals for all routine tests to allow for timely processing. To communicate effectively with laboratory personnel regarding any urgent samples and with clinicians regarding any concerns with patients or issues on the wards. To provide a phlebotomy service on weekends and bank holidays. Please refer to the job description for further details.
