Clinical Responsibilities (All Practitioners) Assess, diagnose, treat, and advise patients presenting with a wide range of minor illness and injury presentations, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and person-centred care in line with individual scope of practice. Perform relevant clinical procedures, including collection of pathology samples and minor interventions, as trained and competent. Ensure clinical practice remains safe, within scope, and escalated appropriately when limits are reached. Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical records and documentation, using appropriate systems. Keep up to date with mandatory training. Contribute to patient flow by supporting appropriate streaming, clinical prioritisation, and safe throughput. Band 8a practitioners may also: Take a lead in mentoring and coaching team members across the service. Lead on clinical audits, service evaluation, and implementation of new clinical protocols or guidelines. Assist in recruitment, appraisal processes, and ongoing professional development within the team. Provide clinical advice to colleagues during complex or uncertain presentations. Act as a shift lead or senior decision-maker, maintaining oversight of safety, flow, and clinical escalation (once ready). Support team learning by contributing to debriefs, case discussions, or reflective learning. Promote adherence to clinical governance, safety standards, and best practice.
