Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic External Fleet Services Manager to join our current Fleet department in Cullompton. This role will involve leading on our relationships with external suppliers for the group and does involve travelling to other Group depots and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of 7 direct reports, managing the rota, developing and training where required. Working with the operations across Gregory Distribution.
  • Ensuring that our maintenance spend does not exceed a budget, this will be working with all operations across the group to meet this target.
  • Manage the PSL of suppliers across Gregory Distribution, setting up of contracts and negotiation of pricing.
  • Regular meetings with suppliers and operations annually as a minimum. Key points to be discussed in meetings as per SLA. Continually reviewing pricing, suppliers performance, ensuring the group are getting the best value of service and commercial benefits.
  • Regular visits to all out based operations and contractors to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Supplier relationships include our breakdown cover and out of hours. Leading the team and monitoring roadside breakdowns including refrigerated trailers, tyres, tail-lifts and any other ancillary equipment.
  • Manage the monitoring of the bookings and ensuring they are dealt with in the SLA time scales, added to the Fleet Management System, liaising with the operations on costs for the booking, once signed off ensuring that repairs are completed to expected standards and vehicle/trailer is returned in a timely manner to the operations.
  • Ensuring WIP is carried out to agreed timescales and monetary value.
  • Ensuring Gregory Distribution are compliant with all DVSA regulations and guide to maintaining roadworthiness.
  • Manage all recalls and campaigns in line with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Production and monitoring of KPI's for the external team
  • Attending regular supplier and internal meetings to discuss current performance, technical issues, processes and procedures.
  • Reviewing processes for the team, continually looking at continuous improvements for the area across Gregory Distribution.

Required Experience:

  • Must have previous experience in LGV Maintenance and repair, minimum standard NVQ Level 3. This is essential including excellent knowledge of LGV Systems and fault diagnosis.
  • Excellent understanding of DVSA regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic focus and continuous improvement experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • MS packages to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
