The Role:

As the Design & Technology Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the DT department. Your work will directly impact students' ability to explore design, engineering, graphics, and food technology with confidence and creativity. This is a full-time position, starting from September.

Requirements

  • Relevant DT or workshop technician experience (school-based or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A passion for education and inspiring young people.

Key Skills and Qualities

  • Strong knowledge of tools, machinery, and workshop equipment.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in handling materials such as wood, plastic, metal, and textiles.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Practical problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials and resources for practical lessons.
  • Maintain and repair tools and equipment.
  • Monitor stock levels and order materials when required.
  • Set up machinery and demonstrations for lessons.
  • Assist teaching staff during practical sessions.
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain an organised and safe workshop environment.
  • Provide technical advice and support to both staff and students.
  • Support extra-curricular clubs and competitions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and safety checks.
