About the role

We are seeking a motivated and inspiring Design and Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Leeds on a full-time basis from June 2025. You will join a dedicated team committed to high standards, inclusive practice, and helping students unlock their full potential. The role covers KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular enrichment.

Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong subject knowledge across at least one or more areas of DT (e.g. Product Design, Graphics, Resistant Materials, or Food Technology)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities Include:
  • Planning and delivering engaging DT lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
  • Creating innovative, practical projects that develop real-world skills
  • Preparing resources and managing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Differentiating content to meet varying abilities and needs
  • Supporting students with coursework and controlled assessments
  • Attending departmental meetings and contributing to planning
  • Taking responsibility for the safety and maintenance of tools and machinery
  • Contributing to whole-school initiatives and pastoral duties
  • Supporting and mentoring DT technicians and teaching assistants where appropriate
