About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Engineering to join a specialist secondary setting in Leeds on a full-time maternity cover basis, starting September 2025. The school is a high-performing and industry-aligned institution that combines academic learning with technical education. You will work with a dynamic team dedicated to preparing students aged 14-19 for successful careers in Engineering, Design, and related sectors.

Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Experience teaching KS4 and/or KS5 Engineering (GCSE, BTEC, or equivalent)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Student engagement and motivation strategies
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality Engineering lessons to KS4 and KS5 students
  • Teach across a range of Engineering topics (mechanical, electrical, systems)
  • Maintain and manage a safe and efficient workshop environment
  • Support student progression towards apprenticeships or further study
  • Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with course specifications
  • Contribute to the development and review of the Engineering curriculum
  • Provide targeted intervention and support where necessary
  • Differentiate lessons to cater to a variety of learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements
  • Prepare students for external examinations and assessments
