Role

Role & Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Specialist Mentor, you will provide individual and group support to students, building rapport and trust to create personalized support plans. You will guide students through challenges, helping them develop coping strategies and achieve their academic and personal goals. This flexible role allows you to make a tangible impact on young people's lives while enjoying a supportive and rewarding work environment.

Main tasks include
  • Conduct individual and group mentoring sessions
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans
  • Provide guidance and support to students facing mental health challenges
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Collaborate with university staff to ensure holistic student support

Requirements

  • Registration with a relevant professional body (BACP, BPS, HCPC, NCPS, NMC, SWE, SCW, UMHAN, or COSCA)
  • Experience in providing mental health support to students or young adults
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals
  • Experience developing and implementing support plans
  • Bachelor's degree (advantageous)
  • NAS training modules beneficial (support provided)
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, empathetic support
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Availability to work flexible part-time hours
