The GORSE Academies Trust (GORSE) are seeking an exceptional individual to join our expanding IT and Digital infrastructure team in the key strategic leadership role of Deputy Director of IT. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced IT leader to join one of the country’s most respected multi-academy trusts, playing a critical role in supporting the Director of Digital Strategy in delivering outstanding digital services across a high-performing organisation.

The Role

As Deputy Director of IT, you will work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy and the Executive Team to lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of our IT estate, infrastructure and digital transformation strategy. You will oversee IT managers across the trust, ensuring high-quality, secure and resilient services that enhance teaching, learning and operational effectiveness.

This role offers a dynamic mix of strategic planning, project leadership, team development, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for an IT executive who thrives in a values-led, team focussed organisation.

About You

We are looking for a strategic thinker and experienced digital leader with a strong technical background and a passion for educational impact. You will bring:

• Proven senior leadership experience in IT, ideally in a complex or multi academy trust environment.
• Demonstrable success in delivering large-scale IT strategies and transformation projects.
• Expertise in IT governance, cybersecurity, data compliance (incl. GDPR), and partner management.
• A collaborative, empowering leadership style and the ability to positively influence at all levels.

Further details about the role

GORSE has 16 trust Establishments based in Leeds, across the 3-19 age range, including a 3-16 Alternative Provision as well as 6 mainstream primaries, 6 mainstream secondaries and two colleges. GORSE also has a thriving Teaching School Hub with a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) which is based in the centre of Leeds.

The Deputy Director of IT will play an important role across all GORSE establishments and the central team. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting our colleagues to give all children the opportunity to secure the Gift of Choice but particularly those whose lives are characterised by privation.

Within GORSE we are determined to break the stubborn link between poverty and achievement and, as Deputy Director of IT, you will work strategically with the Director of Digital Strategy to support the Executive Team and the wider Principal and Director team in achieving this mission whilst aligning fully to the GORSE values of Diligence, Integrity, Rectitude and Kindness.
