Pupil Support Worker- 36.00 Hours/52 weeks


Working hours Monday-Thursday on shift rota of either 7.45-4.00pm or 10.00-6pm.


Friday 7.45-12.45

Whitdale ELC is situated within the small town of Whitburn and serves the local area. The setting consist of am, pm and full day learners aged between two and five. The nursery provided spacious learning areas, there is a garden area, an indoor/outdoor area and break out rooms within the setting. The setting is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours.

Whitdale ELC is seeking to appoint a nurturing and motivated pupil support worker. The successful candidate will have a positive approach to working with children by providing general support in relation to the child’s individuals’ care, health and wellbeing and safety; to ensure a secure and safe learning environment.


The candidate should be solution focussed with an understanding of supporting pupils within an educational setting and how to foster positive relationships. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be required to work effectively as part of our ELC team to support the learning of the children.


This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account


This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
