Key Responsibilities Administer systemic anti-cancer treatments including chemotherapy and targeted therapies in line with national protocols and local policies Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after treatment to identify and manage side effects and complications Provide specialist advice and education to patients and their families about treatment plans, potential side effects, and symptom management Collaborate closely with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated and holistic patient care Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation and contribute to clinical audits and quality assurance activities Support patients physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing, referring to other support services as needed Stay up to date with advances in oncology nursing and systemic therapies through continuous professional development Promote and adhere to health and safety standards, infection control policies, and safeguarding procedures Person Specification Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration Proven experience in oncology/haematology nursing, particularly in administering systemic anti-cancer treatments Comprehensive understanding of SACT/chemotherapy protocols, side effect management, and patient safety Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients and families empathetically Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to oncology nursing To act in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Councils (NMC) The Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates and to be accountable for own clinical practice and professional actions at all times. Ensure continued and effective registration with the NMC. Act as role model and always present a professional image. Participate in individual performance and development review. To have responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health and Safety Policy.
