Specialist Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision

Location: Derby area (DE22)
Contract: Long-term, Full-time (Permanent Opportunities)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £90-£105 per day

At Long Term Futures, we specialise in securing long-term and permanent placements specialist provisions-and we're currently recruiting for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a truly unique, purpose-built school in the Derbyshire area.

This is not your typical support role. It's an opportunity to become a trusted member of a small, expert-led community where the children come first and where your experience can make a lasting impact.

What Makes This School Different?

This independent SEN school supports children aged 6-16 with complex needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication differences, and social-emotional challenges. It is part of a respected national education and care group.

What you can expect from this setting:
- Small class sizes (3-5 pupils) with high staff-to-pupil ratios.
- A calm, modern and nurturing environment with custom-built learning and therapy spaces.
- Outdoor learning and enrichment including Forest School, gardening, animal care, and sensory play.
- Strong multi-disciplinary team approach, including access to in-house therapists (SALT, OT, mental health professionals).
- A school-wide culture focused on kindness, positivity, and pupil-centred support

Your Role as a Specialist Teaching Assistant
- Supporting pupils with autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and associated needs.
- Facilitating communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
- Delivering adapted learning across personal, social, and academic pathways (some pupils follow semi-formal or life skills-based curriculum).
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development.
- Working closely with teaching staff and therapists in a nurturing, non-judgemental environment.

We're Looking for Candidates Who:
- Have experience working in a specialist or SEN setting (either school-based or care/support).
- Are confident supporting complex needs and behavioural challenges.
- Understand the importance of long-term consistency and attachment-based practice.
- Are reliable, reflective, and ready to work as part of a skilled, compassionate team.

Whether you're a seasoned SEN TA or a support worker looking to transition into education-we want to hear from you.

Why Work with Long Term Futures?
- We focus exclusively on long-term and permanent placements-no day-to-day supply
- Dedicated consultant support and school-matched placements
- Regular check-ins, wellbeing support, and training opportunities
- Be part of something meaningful, with consistent hours and a secure, long-term role

If you're ready for a role where your commitment makes a lasting difference-and want to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive provision-we'd love to speak to you.

Apply now with your CV or contact Henri at Long Term Futures directly. Let's build something that lasts.
