Crynodeb
As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will: - Lead the diagnosis and clinical management of patients presenting to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at Southmead Hospital. - Provide regular ward rounds and clinical support to patients, alongside the junior medical team, ensuring high standards of patient care. - Collaborate closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure a cohesive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. - Participate fully in the Acute Medicine rota, including early and late shifts, weekend cover (1 in 8 for 1 WTE), and Same Day Emergency Care shifts. - Actively promote the work of the Acute Medical Unit and support Trust priorities around improving patient flow and reducing admissions. - Be involved in teaching, audit, governance, and research within the AMU. - Provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff, contributing to their development and the overall educational environment of the unit.
