BRI ED has an established and integrated Global Health program within the department, through a collaboration with our own hosted charity "Dharura: Global Emergency Care". This provides our team the opportunity to engage in Global Health opportunities within our range of global partnerships, as well as support and progress our own Global Nursing and Medical Fellowship programs. The program looks to promote reciprocal development between ourselves and global partners to mutually benefit staff from UHBW and our partner institutions, whilst maintaining the highest standards of ethics and governance, allowing our staff to sustain a global perspective of healthcare within their careers. We have strong links with Bristol Community Emergency Medicine Service. CEMS was introduced in 2024 in partnership with South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST), hosted by UHBW to reduce hospital conveyances, enabling care to be delivered in the community rather than in hospital. There is an opportunity for consultants to be involved with CEMS. We also work closely with our Urgent Care colleagues at Bristol Childrens Hospital, Weston General Hospital and North Bristol NHS Trust i in the newly formed Bristol NHS Group, to deliver seamless, high-quality, and equitable care for every person across Bristol, Weston, South Gloucestershire, and the wider South West. We run an active research programme which appointees would be afforded the opportunity to participate in (current projects include CRASH 4, Dexcacell and EMAR National Airways Registry).
