About the Role
We are currently looking to recruit a full-time (37hrs, Monday to Friday) driver to work within our small library distribution team.
Vans are parked at County Hall which will be classed as your base as part of your contract. However, our bookstore is within the Glenfield library.
As a driver within the team, you will primarily be responsible to provide a flexible transport service for the delivery of heavy book stock (crated), publicity materials (leaflets), furniture and other equipment around the County to Main and Community libraries, as directed by the library service and passenger fleet.
This is in accordance with the relevant policies, legislation, procedures and good practices contained within the ‘Driver and Escort Handbook’.
You will be expected to work as part of the team to pre-planned schedules/route lists and complete any record of work, record of driving, accident reports and any other record of vehicle utilisation that may be required by law, the County Council, the ‘Code of Practice’ or ‘Drivers and Escort Handbook’.
As many of the libraries are unmanned at time of delivery there is an expectation that the successful candidate can follow instructions and work effectively on their own.
At the end of the day, drivers are required to assist with duties in the bookstore, specifically but not limited to the sorting of stock for distribution to Libraries and other external organisations and loading the van for the following day.
The post requires the candidate to have detailed geographical knowledge and other information to enable efficient route planning.
If you enjoy driving, working alone for large parts of your day as well as having the ability to undertake the physical tasks of the role, we would like to hear from you
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
