This vacancy is an opportunity to work for the ESOL Curriculum as a ESOL Learning Support Assistant. 

This is an opportunity for appropriately qualified and skilled candidates to join the enthusiastic, committed, and experienced Leicestershire County Council, Adult Learning Service, ESOL team. We deliver high quality, accredited and non-accredited ESOL programmes to ESOL Learners from a range of cultural backgrounds across Leicestershire County in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

The curriculum team provides learning opportunities to help learners to be able to live in and contribute to a community and to find appropriate employment and enabling them to take a greater part in life in the UK.

About the Role

This role will be supporting the whole curriculum working alongside specific course tutors in delivery and development of language skills. 

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working under the guidance of the curriculum coordinator and course tutors to support learners to achieve their learning outcomes. The successful candidate will be working with diverse groups of learners in a vibrant and engaging learning environment. The support could include assisting someone physically, helping with understanding maths problems, reading, organisation, writing or keeping focus.

Adult Learning courses are delivered in a variety of venues around Leicestershire and the successful candidate(s) may be required to work in more than one location. 

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have a good level of English and maths (i.e., Level 2 or above qualification in both)
  • Have some experience (voluntary or paid) in supporting learning in an educational environment or similar
  • Basic digital skills including use of emails and web pages
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under direction and on own initiative
  • Understanding of the principles of safeguarding

You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
