Neway International are currently looking for an Administrative Assistant/Officer to join our client based with Newport City.

Contract Type: Temporary (Inside IR35) Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Start Date: 23rd June 2025 Duration: 12 weeks Rate: PAYE £13.26 per hour / Umbrella Ltd £16.84 per hour

Newport City Council is looking for a Temporary Administrative Assistant/Officer (Grade 4) to support a one-off project within the Housing Advice and Prevention Team. This short-term opportunity is ideal for candidates looking for a summer contract, with a strong ability to manage administrative duties efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as the first point of contact for internal and external partners seeking advice on homelessness prevention.

Provide reception duties, meet and greet visitors, and guide them to their meetings.

Administer the common housing register, assessing housing needs in line with policies.

Offer clerical and administrative support to the team leader.

Handle customer enquiries via phone, in person, and in writing.

Requirements:
Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C) or NVQ Level 2 or relevant experience.

Experience: Two years’ experience dealing directly with customers and partners.

Skills: Strong communication, organization, literacy, numeracy, and competency with Microsoft packages.

Welsh Language: Desirable, but not essential.
