National Services manage centralised administrative and contact functions in HMCTS. Your role

Our Contact Centres are the core of our National Services delivering great customer service to enable Justice. You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service taking calls from the public seeking assistance in either Civil or Family matters.

You will be dealing with queries from parties involved in Tribunals within the First Tier Tribunal. The First-tier Tribunal is made up of seven Chambers which deal with disputes in a number of diverse areas of the law. As a call handler you will be involved in answering calls for the Chambers detailed below:

• War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber – responsible for handling appeals by current or former service personnel against decisions by Veterans UK in relation to pensions, compensation and other matters.
• Social Entitlement Chamber (Social Security and Child Support) – responsible for handling appeals about an individual’s entitlement to a range of disability, work related and other benefits and also hears appeals about liability to make child support payments.
• Health, Education and Social Care Chamber:
• Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) – responsible for handling appeals against local authority decisions regarding special educational needs, and against schools for discriminating based on a child or young person’s disability.
• Mental Health – responsible for handling applications for the discharge of patients detained in psychiatric hospitals, change community treatment orders and the conditions placed on a ‘conditional discharge’ from hospital.

In the future, additional Tribunals calls may be taken by this team.
In addition to providing an excellent service to our external customers, you will be in regular contact with other HMCTS admin processing staff throughout the country, to progressing claims / assist customers. This is a fast-paced position that requires attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and deal with each customer as an individual whilst managing your time effectively.

Your skills and experience
With a friendly and approachable manner, you’ll have good written and verbal communication skills with a desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers. You’ll have great attention to detail, able to enter information into our database accurately and efficiently, and able and adapt to using various software packages. You’ll enjoy organising your time, prioritising efficiently and multi-tasking in a busy environment.
