Job Description: Administrative Assistant
Reporting to: Office Manager and Senior Leadership Team
Location: Doncaster
Contract: Permanent Full Time
Working Pattern: Term Time Only – 4 days 9-4pm, 1 day 9-7pm
Salary: £25,688 FTE (pro rata - 39 weeks - £22,033)
Qualifications: Must have GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent

Journey Education comprises a specialist SEMH Independent School and Alternative Provision, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and is seeking a dedicated administrative assistant to join the team.
Our school provides a nurturing and structured environment for children and young people who need additional support to thrive in their education. We work closely with families, therapists, and external agencies to support our students’ academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
The Role
As an administrative assistant , you will be the first point of contact for pupils, parents, and staff. You’ll play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the school office, supporting leadership and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the school’s reception area and provide a warm, professional welcome to all visitors
• Handle telephone and email enquiries, pupil records, attendance and admissions
• Support the handling of staff records, private and outreach tutors
• Support staff with scheduling, document preparation, and internal communications
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with safeguarding policies
• Assist with the coordination of school events, transport, and staff cover as needed
• Actively promote the safety and welfare of our children and young people
• Ensure compliance with Journey’s data protection rules and procedures
• Liaise with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority with confidence, tact and diplomacy
• Support other school duties, invigilation and enrichment
• Support the school’s ethos at all times and liaise closely with the Office Manager and Senior Leadership Team to support, and parents/carers, school staff and community and statutory teams and agencies, where appropriate.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
o Highly organised and efficient, with strong attention to detail
o Emotionally resilient and confident working in a challenging but rewarding environment
o Experienced in administration (preferably in a school or education setting)
o IT literate, with knowledge of Google Drive [or similar school systems] an advantage
o A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements
• Qualifications: Minimum English and Maths GCSEs.
• Experience: Previous experience as an admin assistant, with substantial knowledge of safeguarding practices.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with all aspects of Google operating systems is needed.
• Efficiency: Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
• Background Checks: An Enhanced DBS Check is required. Candidates should either possess a current Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
• References: Able to provide two recent references from previous employers.
