Purpose of the post

To implement the commercial operations strategy across all hospitality operations including theatre bars, café bar, retail, concession partnerships, kiosks and meetings and events activity, driving sales to achieve commercial targets and embed a commercially minded culture establishing the Theatre Royal within the competitive city center hospitality landscape.

Key collaborators

This role reports to the Head of Hospitality and has direct responsibility for the Hospitality Team. They will work closely with all departments and across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities overview

Commercial Operations

Contribute to the commercial strategy across all hospitality operations for a broad customer base, including theatre bars, café bar, retail, concession partnerships, kiosks and meetings and events activity assuring continuous review and feedback to the Head of Hospitality.
Lead on development of the merchandise offer, liaising with suppliers and implementing internal procedures for stock control, sales and reconciliation § Understand commercial sales budgets and targets, continuously driving sales to achieve organisational financial resilience.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of commercial operations sector trends both locally and nationally.
Help develop and train commercial operations systems and software, assuring functionality is optimised across all touch point including but not limited to EPOS systems.
Ensure the effective management of all hospitality and event spaces and associated resources, to maximise revenue generation and support cross departmental strategic objectives.
Support the delivery of a programme of commercial, corporate, community and creative events within all hospitality and event spaces.
Review and interpret sales and stock performance data to inform continuous improvement and maximise revenue.
Ensure the highest standards of Food Safety Management are embedded across all commercial operations, maintaining up to date knowledge of current Food Standards and legislative requirements.
Deliver a comprehensive training programme encompassing service standards, food safety and licensable activities.
Line manage the Hospitality and Events team, contributing to their development in achieving a high performance standard.
General operations

Undertake responsibilities as a member of the Health and Safety Officers. § Undertake responsibilities as a First Aider and member of the Emergency Response Team. § Undertaking such other relevant duties as may be requested from time to time.

Duties as a member of the Theatre Royal team

Ensuring that the working environment and practices conform to the Trust’s Food Safety and GDPR Policies, appropriate Child Protection legislation and Health and Safety Legislation
