About Us:
At St. George’s Nursery, we’ve been delivering exceptional early years education across the East Midlands for over 30 years. With a warm, family-run ethos and a reputation for quality, we are proud to be opening a brand-new nursery in Hucknall in Summer 2025 – and we’re looking for an experienced, passionate Deputy Manager to help lead it from the ground up.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a new setting with standout facilities and a truly supportive leadership team.
A Truly Special Nursery:
This new setting has been thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity and creativity, with features including:
- A large nature garden and imaginative outdoor learning areas
- A purpose-built children’s kitchen for experiential learning
- A calming sensory room and atelier for creative exploration
- A dedicated staff training and wellbeing space
You’ll be part of shaping something truly unique for the local community.
The Role:
As Deputy Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager and Head Office team to support the opening and day-to-day leadership of the nursery. You’ll take the lead on practice and compliance, support staff development, and step up in the Manager’s absence.

OR a strong Nursery Manager looking for a senior role in a brand-new setting with a high level of support
You’ll Be Supported By:
- An experienced Nursery Manager
- A hands-on Senior Management Team
- Our Operations, Marketing, Accounts, and Maintenance teams at Head Office
- Strong systems and a nurturing, team-oriented culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the setup and smooth running of the new nursery
- Ensure outstanding care, learning and safeguarding practices across the setting
- Motivate, coach, and mentor your team to achieve their best
- Develop strong, positive relationships with children and families
- Help manage daily operations including staffing, rotas, and admin
- Act as Manager in their absence
What We’re Looking For:
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5+ desirable)
- Experience in a Deputy or Manager role within a nursery setting
- Confident understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted and safeguarding
- Strong leadership skills, with a calm, can-do attitude
- Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to excellence
