The role:
An exciting opportunity has become available to work on a 3-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Exeter and Goonvean Group Ltd. The KTP will create digital twins of the manufacturing operations of different companies within the Goonvean Group.
The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Exeter and will spend the majority of their time working at Foundry and Fabrication Ltd in Totnes, Devon and at Goonvean’s head office in Cullompton, Devon, with regular visits to the University of Exeter and other group companies throughout the UK. They will be expected to work a hybrid pattern with 3-5 days based in the office.

Qualification / skills we require:
• A good degree Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Operations Management or a closely related field.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with ability to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of people.
• Proficiency in coding with Python, MATLAB or a similar platform for modelling, analysis and simulation.
• Experience in modelling and simulation for problem analysis and solution development.
• Practical experience with manufacturing systems, process optimisation or Industry 4.0 settings in an industrial setting, ideally backed up with a lean / six-sigma qualification
• Strong abilities in data analysis and the design and implementation of digital twins.
• Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Capacity to become a strong project manager, taking on the leadership of a strategic innovation project.
